Turgi, Switzerland, November 25, 2016. Ampegon wins the Swiss Technology Award 2016 in the category “Innovation Leaders”, the most important technology prize for innovation and technology transfer in Switzerland.
Winners were elected in the categories “Inventors”, “Start-ups” and “Innovation Leaders” for their outstanding technological innovations and developments demonstrating above-average market potential and novelty. This year, the popular prize was awarded for the 28th time as part of the Swiss Innovation Forum held on 24. November in Basel.
Ampegon, in cooperation with the Institute of High Power Electronics (HPE) of ETH Zurich, has developed an innovative short pulse modulator used for research facilities such as SwissFEL (free electron laser) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and for medical applications (cancer treatment) and industrial processes (liquid sterilization). The jury honored the modulator for its high level of technological innovation, combining both economical and social benefits.

AMPEGON GEWINNT DEN SWISS TECHNOLOGY AWARD 2016
Turgi, Schweiz, 25. November 2016. Ampegon gewinnt in der Kategorie «Innovation Leaders» den Swiss Technology Award 2016, den bedeutendsten Technologiepreis für Innovation und Technologietransfer in der Schweiz.
In den Kategorien «Inventors», «Start-ups» sowie «Innovation Leaders» wurden herausragende technologiebasierte Innovationen und Entwicklungen mit überdurchschnittlichem Marktpotenzial und hohem Neuigkeitswert gekürt. Der begehrte Preis wurde dieses Jahr im Rahmen des Swiss Innovation Forum am 24. November in Basel bereits zum 28. Mal vergeben.
Ampegon hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut für High Power Electronics (HPE) der ETH Zürich einen neuartigen Kurzpuls Modulator entwickelt, der in Forschungsanlagen wie SwissFEL (Elektronenlaser) am Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) und in medizintechnischen (Krebstherapie) sowie industriellen (Entkeimung von Flüssigkeiten) Applikationen zur Anwendung kommt. Der Modulator überzeugte die Jury durch einen hohen technologischen Innovationsgrad und den sowohl wirtschaftlichen wie auch gesellschaftlichen Nutzen.
